Know About The Different Types of Electronic Control Panel Board

There is a varied range of industrial electronic control panels, useful for different kinds of activities. People use it to operate multi-functional equipment and large industrial machinery. Each of these control panels has executed functioning programs for switching the equipment on, controlling speed, motor operations, opening and closing valves and more. You can also consult a reliable control panel board manufacturer in Kolkata for advanced services.

Different Types of Control Panel Boards

The three basic types of industrial control panel boards are as follows –

  • Power Control Centre

  • Motor Control Centre

  • Automation Panels

The design and characteristics of all control panel boards also differ.

  1. MCCs

Also known as the motor control centre, these panels use one or more vertical sections containing a power distribution busbar and separate mounting locations for effective motor controllers. The specific motor controllers have a contactor and a motor starter alongside an overload relay which protects the motor, other circuit protection devices such as fuses and circuit breakers, and switches for power disconnection. The MCC panels have other components, too, like VFD or variable frequency drives, PLCs or Programmable Logic Controllers, Indicator lights, Push buttons, metering device etc. it helps in motor controlling from a centralised location like the electronic or mechanical room.

  1. PLC Control Panel

These are industrial computers connecting and monitoring industrial devices like sensors, pushbuttons, switches, relays and more. The PLC can capably execute programmed outputs based on the input devices such as sound alarm, opening or closing of the valve, starting or stopping the motor etc. The PLC control panel is kind of an enclosure housing PLC and other necessary components that distribute power, execute programmed output, provide protection to electrical circuits and more. They also contain Ethernet switches for connecting PLC to the network, HMI or external computers.

  1. VFD Controls

These are types of motor controllers, which control the speed of the motor through varying voltage and input frequencies. They effectively manage motor ramp up and ramp down during the operations. It also has other features like improved system efficiency, lowered energy consumption, upgraded speed and torque power and less mechanical stress. This panel consists of single or multiple VFDs, like power distribution components, devices for motor protection, circuit protection, harmonic filters and line reactors along with a PLC.
